World AIDS Day

Today is World AIDS Day. Started in 1988, it's an international effort dedicated to raising awareness of AIDS through HIV infection.

More and more, the risk of HIV is pushed to the background in the minds of those who are most in the line of fire -- young gay and bi men. This particular people group are less afraid of infection and less likely to practice safe sex. They're also less likely to get tested regularly, running the risk of spreading HIV.

Use today to talk to your friends about AIDS and HIV. Ask them if they've been tested and when. If it's more than six months prior, then urge them to get tested again. If it's been more than six months since you've been tested, then do it. Know your status. When it comes to HIV, ignorance is not bliss.

Use today to give support to those that have HIV.

Use today to remember those that have died.

Use today to make a difference in the lives of those around you.
